Charlotte’s own family experiences & history have impressed upon her the importance of equality and opportunity. This has become even more eye-opening now that she is a mother to her daughter Mimi. Recognizing that she can now help create opportunities for others, Charlotte was inspired to support young women's education. In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, 489.5 million girls are out of school, according to UNESCO.

While some people in life are fortunate to have certain opportunities, Charlotte understands that many others face a much harsher reality. Always wanting to help out, she never knew exactly how. Now, through her website and her network of people and customers, we can all play our part, however big or small it may be. Malaika is the perfect program to empower women.

$US50 from every order made through the site will go towards two sweet five year old girls, Beniciel and Anita.

Beniciel Sango Sungulia:

Beniciel is five years old and comes from a large family. Her mother works as a saleswoman and her father works various jobs. Beniciel would like to work as a teacher in the future as she believes in the importance of education. Her favourite food is bukhari and chicken and she loves the colour red.

Beniciel Sango Sungulia:

Beniciel would like to work as a teacher in the future as she believes in the importance of education. Her favourite food is bukhari and chicken and she loves the colour red.

Anita Tshilemb Namty:

Anita is five years old and has one sister. Her parents work various different jobs. Anita is currently loving to learn and discover new things and is unsure what she would like to do when she grows up. She is most happy when chicken and spaghetti are being dished up and her favorite colour is red.

The Malaika school first opened their doors in 2011 and provides free primary and secondary education to 430 girls. Malaika is impacting thousands of lives and transforming an entire community in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through enhanced access to education, water, and healthcare. Through a comprehensive, local approach, an entire village has undergone a transformative ripple effect. And it all starts with education: an educated woman is more likely to give back to her community, to inspire others to attend school, and to cultivate a sense of independence among both her peers and the next generation.
