Designing the perfect push present…
Meet Lou O'neil, the luminary of luxury fashion, beauty, and travel, whose vibrant image radiates from Sydney to every corner of the globe. With an effortless blend of down-to-earth charm and mesmerising elegance, she embodies the epitome of sophistication.
When Lou approached us with her vision for a collaboration, we saw it as a perfect match of style and creativity. Inspired by her discerning taste and effortless flair, we set out to create a piece that is truly special. A piece that embodies the essence of timeless elegance and one that would complement her existing jewellery pieces.
Together, we created a treasured piece that tells Lou’s story & holds the promise of being passed down through the generations.
What is the meaning of a push present to you?
In my eyes a ‘push present’, which is a funny word, as I didn’t even push (I ended up having a caesarean) is really to do with giving yourself a big round of applause for the 9 months of pregnancy!! As we all know it’s not easy! But more importantly, it is to celebrate the arrival of the most special person in your life - something I will never forget.
What were your intentions in designing this piece with Charlotte?
I have always been drawn to a name necklace; however, I needed a point of difference when designing this piece with Charlotte. I wanted to design an everyday piece that went with pretty much everything. It can be worn both casually and for an event. The necklace has so much meaning – I was a part of the design process from start to finish, and now I can wear a piece representative of my family wherever I go!
Tell us about Lou O’Neil.
I was born and raised in HK, but was sent to boarding school, where I met Charlotte when I was 12 years old. I’ve lived all over the world but now reside in Sydney and definitely call Australia home.
Besides the lack of sleep, how have you found being a mum to baby Otis?
Being a mum is the most rewarding and the most incredible experience of my life. I just can’t believe he is here, and I can’t imagine life without baby Otis now. It’s crazy that you meet someone that you’ve never known before, and immediately feel such a close bond with them. Very special.
Why did you choose Heinrich Freeman to make your push present?
I’ve known Charlotte for a very long time now and love her creative eye, she has created some very special pieces.
I also really love the idea of Heinrich Freeman taking a sustainable approach to the diamond industry and luxury jewellery. The idea of passing down this heirloom piece to my kids with a sustainable future for their kids in mind is very important to me. It is really what intergenerational responsibility is all about, leaving the world in a better place for our grandchildren.
